Movie Review: EuroTrip
I recently watched one of my favorite traveling movies. Traveling as in, movies that are based on going somewhere, but I happened to be watching it as I myself were also traveling. I had forgotten how funny it was, and a lot of graduating high school students could relate to it. If you’re a fan of the Movies Road Trip and Old School, you’ll love this movie and its goofy corks that meet along the way
The movie starts off at a graduation, with four best friends who are ready for the summer, and are preparing for the different colleges that they’ll head off to in August. The main character is a boy named Scott Thomas, who finds himself in a peril when he blows off his hot pen-pal that he had mistaken for a guy. The basic plot is about him and his three other friends, going off to Europe to find his pen-pal. On the way, they experience crazy and awkward/embarrassing things that’ll send you on the floor laughing.
But even with the comedy, I think that this movie holds good morals. The first one would be going out of your box, and not always having a plan. Scott was always the kind of kid who didn’t do anything before thinking it out, and having a laid at plan for every action he made. He ended up getting dumped by his girlfriend because she said he was way too predictable. I’m definitely not saying that that’s a bad thing, but I think it’s good for people to get out of their comfort zone and live differently. Scott’s decision to go to Europe was completely last minute. By making that decision, he proved to his friends that he can be fun and unpredictable.
Another moral I felt that this movie held, was that looks aren’t everything. Scott said he had a connection with his pen-pal, even before he knew it was some pretty blonde chick from Berlin. And even once he did, he still fell in love with who she was, not the way she looked. I think that’s something everyone should take into consideration.
I would just like to put it out that the movie is rated R, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone under 17, unless you have a parental consent of courseJ. In the comedy genre I would rate this movie at about a 3-5 stars.
