Movie Review:My Best Friends Girl

Overall, I would describe this movie as an edgier version of Hitch meets Good Luck Chuck, and maybe a little bit of Failure to Launch.

If anyone is a Dane Cook lover, then you will love this movie. I happen to be a huge Dane Cook fan, so I figured I had to check this movie out. It also has one of my favorite actresses, Kate Hudson. And when you put these two together, it makes one pretty entertaining movie.
First off, I’ll say that this movie has good morals. Appreciate what you have, because if you let go of it, you might not be able to find something as great as you had. In this movies case, I’m referring to a relationship. For anyone who knows what it’s like to have someone, and then let them go, and then realize there’s nothing better out there for you, this is a movie you could relate to. But that’s not the only moral it has, another one is pointed out that second chances can create good things, and that they can truly be worth it. I know that if I were some of the women in this movie, I would never do what they do, but somehow they find it right to forgive.
It starts off with Tank Turner (Dane Cook) purposely sabotaging a date that he’s on, so that the girl will go crawling back to her ex-boyfriend, begging him to take her back. That’s Tank’s job, to make himself look so bad, that it makes the women realize they were lucky to have the man they had before him. Unfortunately, Tank gets asked to do a rather difficult favor, when his best friend/ roommate, gets dumped by his girlfriend Alexis (Kate Hudson). Just like any other routine he has with making himself look like a complete jerk; he takes her on the worst date possible. But instead of hating him, she starts to fall for him. And of course, he starts to fall for her, and the poor Dusty (Jason Biggs, also known as the main star in the American Pie films), the best friend/ roommate, is stuck, completely oblivious to Tanks whereabouts with Alexis.
Of course, Dusty finds out, and the whole thing causes a huge controversy between the two. And basically the rest of the movie is about them trying to sort things out, as well as the relationship that continues to carry with Tank and Alexis.
It’s a hilarious movie, and is a must see comedy, especially if you like Dane Cook, though he’s kind of a pig in this movie. But that’s what makes it funny. I thought it was going to be some what of a chick flick, but it’s definitely not, so I would recommend guys to watch it.
Another real quick thing, if you’ve ever seen the movie Mean Girls, the girl her plays Janis, Caddy’s first friend she makes, appears in the movie as Alexis’s best friend and roommate. I didn’t even recognize her.
