The name “blobfish” is the perfect nick name for this odd blob-like fish. They can be found close to the deep waters of Australia. In resemblance to the jelly fish, the blobfish is made out of the same jelly texture. Though jelly is very thin, it can withstand pressures of 800 meters, which is almost 80 times higher then at sea level. It’s actually so thin and light it doesn’t have to swim at all. It usually just drifts above the sea floor. The blobfish also puts no effort into living. They’re only capable of feeding on anything edible floating near by them. Many find this animal to be ugly but I find it rather interesting. It even looks like humans could’ve taken on some natural looks from this animal. If you look closely at the face, it seems have similarities to a human’s nose and lips.
Blob fish are infrequently seen by humans. Since they prefer the dark, cold, and uncanny environment, it’s almost impossible to capture one. But if it’s to be done, it’s done with bottom trawling nets. These long nets allow people to catch underwater creatures by skimming the ocean floor. Luckily, since the blobfish have no muscles, it’s harder for them to escape, or swim away fast.
