Not Another Teen Movie

If you’re a fan of movies, especially older teen movies such as The Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, and so on, I would definitely suggest you watch this movie. Though it’s not the newest movie, it honestly never gets old. It’s a hilarious movie that spoofs on a bunch of different teen movies such as 10 Things I hate About You, She’s All That, Cruel Intentions, 16 Candles, Can’t Hardly Wait, Pretty in Pink, Bring it On, Varsity Blues, and so many more. The best part is how the movie is constantly spoofing on all these movies, making it kind of fun to see if you know what each movie different scenes originate from.
Alright so the basic plot of the movie is based on the popular movie starring Freddy Prinze, Jr. and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, known as She’s All That. They take the main idea of having the jocks pick out a hopeless wreck at their school, and bet the most popular boy that he couldn’t make her prom queen. Taking him up on the bet, he decides that it won’t be a challenge. But it ends up being way harder then they expected. Janey, the unique rebel and hopeless wreck, see’s Jake, popular jock, as a self-centered idiot who she would never get with. Fortunately for him, he ends up winning her over, but then quickly loses her when she finds out about the bet that was made. With her heart broken she commits to Jakes best friend, saying that she’ll go with him to prom, rather then Jake. Afterwards, Janey takes of leaving for Paris, and Jake goes after her. Your going to have to watch the movie to see if he wins her back or not, and since it’s not like most movies, don’t automatically expect a happy ending.
I’ve seen this movie so many times I’m almost positive I could recite the whole thing. But if you’re a movie lover like me, you would understand that you can’t just watch this movie once. If none of the movies that it spoofs on seem familiar, I would suggest watching those first, and then watching Not Another Teen Movie, so it makes more sense. If you don’t, the movie will probably just seem like a stupid waist. Also, if you watch the DVD, I would say go into the extra features and test your Teen movie IQ. If you think you the bomb at knowing your movies, this is a great way to see if you really know your stuff.
So basically, this movie is your typically teen movie. It involves the jocks, the geeeks, the cheerleaders, the unique and rebellous girl, team rivals, and your average everyday high school problems...except with some twists. So watch this movie, it'll send you on your ends dying from laughter

More Then Just a Blog

I found myself dreading the idea of blogging, when I was first told that it was going to be a main focus for the AP Language Arts class. My first fear was that I wouldn’t have anything to blog about. But as I progressed into the year, I realized that I was given a lot of freedom. And the blogging was a chance for me to write about anything, under certain guidelines, that I wanted to write about. I find myself surfing the net often, and thinking, “Hey, I could blog about this”.

Because of my obsession for finding unique things to discuss in my blog, I also feel that this has been an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge. I’ve learned a bunch of different new facts, which are actually interesting. For instance, I’ll sometimes blog about crazy, ugly animals that I’ll find on the web. The other day I was just telling a friend of mine about the strongest, or what looks like to be, the strongest dog in the world. When I explained to them that I knew all the information from blogging. They laughed, because usually when someone says blogging, the image of a nerd who has no life but the computer, comes to mind. But I clarified that there’s more to it then just seeming nerdy. You get to express yourself, and have your own words, your own creation, be read by anybody. You can form a webpage that of your own design, call it whatever you want, and so on. It’s like your own little space on the internet.

With blogging, I’ve also been able to see what other students have come up. Some of my ideas I’ll get were from looking at other blogs. Whether they’re from my high school, or they’re from half way across the country. And let me say, I’m astounded by the creativity and brilliance that people put into blogging. Just the other day I was looking at one from London, and it blew me away. I had clicked on it because it was linked to a store that I was online shopping on, and out of curiosity I clicked it. The settings, the music, and especially the writing were tremendous. I wanted to comment on it, but I’ve never actually commented on anyone’s blog before, so I mentally gave whosever blog it was, a pat on the back.

Anyways, my blogging experience has surprisingly been fun, and inspiring. I was opened up to a new world that I didn’t even know existed. Or, well I knew it existed, I just never really appreciated it until I was exposed to it. And now that I have been, I’ve been spreading the word that other people need to get out there and try it, or read some, or do something. Because there’s more to the internet then just youtube and facebook. There’s the art of showing who you are through writing.

Strongest Dog in the World

You would think that this dog was made on the computer, being enhanced with special effects and what not. But actually, this animal exists, and looks just like its picture. It’s known to be the strongest dog and world.

This hulking canine can be found in Russia, where it works for the Russian Army. My thought is, I would never ever want to get on this dogs bad side. And also, believe it or not, this dog is a female. Yep, this incredibly ripped pup’s name is Wendy. She was born with a genetic defect, which caused her to grow muscle much larger then her normal breed. It’s what people like to call “double muscled”.

She still functions normally like any other dog would. She has a strong heart and longs, but with the type of dysfunction in her muscles, she ways weighs twice as much as what her normal weight should be. Her specific case has shown in other dogs as well, and is known as “Bully Whippets”.

Don’t be fooled. Just because she gives off the appearance of being the strongest dog in the world, doesn’t mean she’s mean and aggressive like you would assume. She tries to live a normal life, as other dogs, minus the fact that she works for the Russian Army. I know that in her spare time she likes to relax and be and scratched and pet just like any other dog. And besides the fact of having enormously large muscles, her owners still try to help her live a normal life by taking her to their farm in Victoria, Canada.

Help wanted

There are certain things I look forward to in a year. The biggest thing of course being the summertime. The school year is always fine, but theres nothing better then a good three months off to have some fun in the sun. Unfortunately, it's been brought to my attention that i need to get a job for the summer. I've put my name at a couple places, but i haven't followed up on anything, and quite frankly i feel like I'm in kind of a pickle
I've attempted to try different kinds of work during the summer before. My first one being detasselling. Whoa, i don't think i will ever do that again unless i am in dire need of a job. I made decent money, but it was a lot a lot of work. I woke up at 4:30 every morning so i could make the 5 o'clock bus. the drive was about a half hour drive to fields. to sum it up, i don't think I'll be doing it again. The work wasn't really that bad, but the weather just made it harder. I remember each morning the fields would be wet, so we had to wear sweat pants and jackets. But by the time 10 rolled around, the sun was already starting to get hot. And let me say, its the worst feeling of wet, dirty socks, in your shoes that have large chunks of dried mud on them. Along with the wet sweat pants sticking to your skin as the sun beats down on your bare neck. Man that truly wasn't the highlight of my summer. i think the only thing that got me through was the fact that I was doing it with my friends.
Anyways, back to this summer, I don't know what I should do. A good majority of my friends are considering doing lifeguarding, as they did last. Some suggested that I should do that same. But I already decided that lifeguarding will not be involved in my summer plans. I can't swim to save my life, let alone save someone elses. So I had to say pass on that one. Though it would be nice to sit out in the sun all day doing nothing, because usually lifeguards don't have much to do unless someones drowning, which seems to rarely happen.
Another suggestion given was that I should check out working at a movie theater. I didn't think this was a half bad idea, because people always go to the movies, and I love watching movies. It seems like it would make sense to get a job there, but I have one problem, non of the theaters are hiring. I checked at all the avaliable theaters on my side of town. Yeah, non of them were excepting applications. Bummer right?
I am in kind of a peril, so if anyone has ideas of what I should do that'd be great. Preferable nothing like manual labor, but if that's what it comes down to, i guess i really don't have a choice.

Technology = L:oss of Communication?

I recently found myself in a heated debate with my family about the new era of technology. My mother expressed that she felt technology was the reason why people are starting to lose the art of communication, meaning speaking. My brother I agreed to differ on this subject. Instead of saying that communication is lost, it’s simply being portrayed in a different way. I think what she was meaning when she said, people don’t actually talk anymore but just text or email, facebook, or whatever, she meant that we don’t physically exchange words as much as people use to. Now I would agree with this, because I think it’s true. I find myself always texting, and hardly ever using my actually phone for talking. But I wouldn’t agree with her that the loss of communication is approaching, since isn’t that what texting is…a form of communication?
We argued on the subject for awhile, with my mother still trying to stand strong on her beliefs, though I’m pretty sure we were able to convince her that people weren’t stopping to communicate. Just as we thought we had her completely convinced, she threw down that because of different technologies, people are starting become more anti-social, with friends and family. We asked her for some different of examples of why she believes this. She then explained to us that she noticed a changed from her generation to our generation, duh.of course there’s going to be change, and how children these days seem to distance themselves from their families more then back when she was child. The reason being that, were more into our new high-tech equipment and such. I wasn’t sure if I was going to agree or disagree with this one. I do think it’s true that kids these days are more interested in playing video games, or texting friends, then sitting down and having a nice quiet evening discussing their school life with their parents. But I think it just goes with the generation, and the culture that we’ve been brought up in.
In defense I said that my mother couldn’t just sum up that new technology is leading to an absence of communication. If anything, it’s creating more opportunities to communicate with one another, just not through our actually voice. And that could be a good thing; it could help us prepare for things like a career. If we practice our writing skills, it could really help one excel in high school in college.
